President Ho and General Vo Nguyen Giap “drawn” in sand

A sand painting exhibition of late President Ho Chi Minh and top-ranking General Vo Nguyen Giap by artisan Y Lan opened in Hanoi on August 23 at No. 8 Hung Vuong.

The exhibition introduces 30 portraits of Ho Chi Minh and 23 of General Vo Nguyen Giap, which were made by Y Lan and her five co-workers within a timespan of over three months.

Paintings which feature Ho Chi Minh  is of the late President at work and his meetings with farmers and children.

“The exhibition helps to enrich artforms about President Ho’s life and it shows the people’s and the author’s deep sentiments to President Ho and General Vo Nguyen Giap,” said Major General Nguyen Ngoc Lam, Political Commissar of the Ho Chi Minh Mausoleum Protection High Command.

This is the first large-scale sand painting exhibition about Ho Chi Minh in Hanoi. Artisan Y Lan said she and her co-workers will continue making other sand paintings about Ho Chi Minh.

After the exhibition closes on September 6, Y Lan will present all the paintings about Ho Chi Minh to the Ho Chi Minh Mausoleum Protection High Command and all the paintings about General Vo Nguyen Giap to the Vietnam Museum of Military.
