Swine flu spreads to new schools

After infecting hundreds of students from 20 schools in HCM City, the A/H1N1 influenza has spread to two other schools, the Marie Curie High School in District 3 and Luong The Vinh High School in District 1 on August 27. In Hanoi, 12 schools have reported swine flu.

According to the HCM City Department of Health, a total of seven students in the two above schools are positive to A/H1N1 flu. By August 27, nearly 20 schools in the city have had swine flu, total ling hundreds of cases. Nine schools are under supervision because they have new cases of swine flu.

The southern provinces of Tay Ninh, Ba Ria – Vung Tau, Khanh Hoa and Dong Nai also announced that they have A/H1N1 cases at their schools. However, all patients are in good condition.

In Hanoi, there are two more schools that are suspected of having swine flu, including the Nhan Chinh High School in Thanh Xuan District with 23 students and the Kim Lien High School in Gia Lam District with 20 students, who show symptoms of flu. They are waiting for test results.

Previously, ten schools in Hanoi had A/H1N1 patients, named Lomonosov, Doan Thi Diem, Nam Thanh Cong, Acedemi-Ciputra, Nguyen Du, Teacher Training University I, Sports Teacher Training University, Dong Da, Thach Ban High School and Thach Ban Primary School.

After nearly three months since the first swine flu patient was detected, Vietnam has had around 2300 patients, including 1200 in HCM City. Besides two cases that died, some suffered from pneumonia as a complication of flu, almost all patients are healthy. Over 1300 people have left hospitals.
