V-League: Hoang Anh Gia Lai defeat HCM City 4-3
Hoang Anh Gia Lai beat Ho Chi Minh City club 4-3 in an attractive and thrilling match at Pleiku stadium on August 5.

With Lee Nguyen’s return, Hoang Anh Gia Lai’s performance became better. The hosts dominated the game and took the lead in the 14th minute when Evaldo slotted the ball into the net from Lee Nguyen’s cross. In the 26th minute Lee Nguyen’s shot hit the crossbar.
In a counter attack Mario scored the equaliser in the 29th minute before Ngoc Bao helped Ho Chi Minh City club take the lead in the 43rd minute.
After the break, Hoang Anh Gia Lai continued dominate the game, producing many chances to score. Thai Duong levelled the score for Hoang Anh Gia Lai with his wonderful long range fire. And Tang Tuan gave Hoang Anh Gia Lai the lead again with his shot from Moustapha’s fine cross. Minh Chuyen scored the equaliser for the guests in the 63rd minute.
It was Lee Nguyen who scored the winner from a free kick to seal a 4-3 victory for home team in the 69th minute.
Having stunned Ho Chi Minh City club 4-3 in a do-or-die match, Hoang Anh Gia Lai moved from 11th into 9th place of the table. Ho Chi Minh City club could not improve their position (12th place), thus remaining in the relegation zone.
