Vietnam has one more stem-cell bank

After Mekostem, which opened in February 2009, the second stem-cell bank named Mamprotech Vietnam is scheduled to open in late 2009 in HCM City.

Invested in by Mamprotech Vietnam, a private company, the stem-cell bank is located in the HCM City Hi-tech Park.

The project’s manager Nguyen Quang Duc told VietNamNet that investment capital in equipment for each worker at the bank is over 30,000 US dollars. This project is supported by the Australia-based parent company.

Besides this stem-cell bank, Mamprotech Vietnam will invest in producing stem-cell technology-based bio-medical products under the instruction of foreign experts.

In Vietnam, stem-cells extracted from umbilical cords and blood from umbilical cords have been used to cure blood cancer, burns and diabetes.
