Tropical depression becomes a storm
The tropical storm in the East Sea became a storm this morning, September 10. This is the seventh typhoon in the East Sea so far this year, and it may affect northern Vietnamese provinces.

At 4am on September 10, the storm’s eye was around 440km East – Northeast of the Hoang Sa peninsula (Paracel Islands). The strongest wind in the storm’s eye was level 8 (from 62-74km per hour).
In the next 24 hours, the storm will move West and West – Northwest at the speed of 15km per hour. By September 12, the storm’s eye is forecast to be off the western coast of China’s Hainan Island.
Under the influence of this storm, there will be wind at levels 6 to 8 in the northern part of the East Sea. As of September 11 evening, winds will get stronger from levels 6 to 10, with choppy seas in the Tonkin Gulf.
In addition, owing to the Southwestern monsoon, the sea from Binh Thuan and Ca Mau will have strong winds between levels 6 and 8 and rough seas. There will be rain and thunderstorms in the Central Highlands and the southern region.
Deputy Director of the Central Hydrometeorology Centre Le Thanh Hai said northern provinces will have to look out for downpours while mountainous provinces need to be careful about flash floods and landslides.
At the same time, the tropical depression near the coast of the central region has weakened and disappeared. Downpours in this region have reduced remarkably compared to the last several days.
