Sapa terraced fields in rice harvest season
Sapa has entered the autumn with yellow-ripened rice in terraced fields at the foot of magnificent Fansipan Mountain.
The fall is the most beautiful season in the mountainous, tourist haven of Sapa in Lao Cai province. Terraced fields, which are referred to as natural staircases to heaven, are favourite destinations of tourists.
Terraced fields in Sapa have existed for hundreds of years. They were created by many generations of ethnic minority groups like the Ha Nhi, H’Mong and Dao.
Terraced fields are unique tourism products of Vietnam. The US-based Travel and Living chose Sapa’s terraced fields as one of the most magnificent seven terraced fields of Asia and the world.
Here are recent photos of Sapa’s terraced fields in autumn, taken by Dan Tri newspaper.
