Detailed info of 100 million Facebook users published
Details of 100 million Facebook users have been gathered and published online, according to BBC News on Thursday.
| Stephanie Endicott and Marcus Smallegan, first-year students at George Washington University, display a photograph of themselves on their Facebook website, in Washington November 25, 2007. |
A security consultant, Ron Bowles, used a code to collect Facebook members’ personal information which was allowed to the public in the users’ privacy settings.
The figure occupies as many as one fifth of all registered Facebook users.
Internet users may easily share the published file by downloading it to their computers, which contains users’ names, profile and identification informations the users put on the website.
Bowles said he published it to let Facebook users focus on privacy issues, despite Facebook said it has already spread rapidly in public across the Internet.
